A short day that seems much longer

From World Tour 2010 in Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom on Jan 27 '10

Brisbird has visited no places in Heathrow Airport

Well, as expected I felt like a doormat today. After basically no sleep on the plane(even after half a sleeping tablet), and a brief stop at the British Airways arrivals lounge, we headed for the Sheraton Heathrow. Absolutely nothing planned for today – other than re-packing and hoping that we can leave our two roll-a-board cases with the porter while we are away on our tours. We are due to come back to this hotel on our final night before returning home.

It seems our luck(or lack of) with London accommodation has continued. Upon presenting ourselves at the desk of the hotel they did not have a booking for us. Apparently because of the many last minute changes that had to be made to our plans due to cancelled tours, the booking for this night was cancelled.  This time we just paid for the room rather than stand around for two hours again and battle with the hotel. I sent an email to our travel agent in the hope that something could be sorted out before our departure.

Sleep.. just let me sleep...

We checked with the porter and indeed we can leave a couple of bags here to pick up on our return. Joe is very happy with this. The concierge also tells us that there is a shuttle service to the local pub called the White Horse, which we think is a grand idea for dinner later on. As soon as we get to the room my head hits the pillow and I don’t surface again for four hours. We decide to check out the club lounge for free drinks and canapés till 8pm and utilise the free internet to send off emails to home. We decide to eat in the hotel restaurant for dinner rather than go out, as the temperature has dropped below zero. We opt for the buffet dinner which has four hot options, salads, soup and a couple of desserts.
