This past weekend, I took things a little easier than the weekend in Valencia. There was a free excursion on Friday. We went to Ucles to see the Convent of La Orden de Santiago. It was where a group of knights lived during the Christian conquest. There was a map on a wall they showed all of the cities that they had already taken over. There was a large church and a sacristy and other than that, it was a little dull. It was just a building with a cafeteria, rooms etc. Next we went to Segobriga, the roman ruins, in Cuenca. This was very cool because it was unlike anything else I’d seen in Spain. (I’m getting sick of mezquitas!!) Anyways, there were ruins of a theatre, bathrooms and exercise area, and where the gladiators would fight to the death.

On Saturday, we went into Madrid and had a picnic in Retiro park (this park is HUGE and you can rent row boats to ride around on a lake). Next, we went to the Prado, and saw famous paintings by El Greco, Goya, Titian, and Velázquez. The group of us went out to eat at a nice restaurant, and then headed back to Toledo for the night on a late bus.

This next weekend I will be heading to Italy for my Spring Break. I am going with 4 other girls, which should be a blast! I will be gone for over a week, and will write upon my return. Take care!
