London
From UK & India: A 9 month Adventure in London, United Kingdom on Oct 11 '10
We spent 4 busy days in London and did so many things that we are only going to write about some of our favorites.
We took a walk through Hyde park and visited the London eye. The London Eye is the world's biggest ferris wheel. The London eye is white and has big capsule compartments that can hold about sixteen people. When you ride on it you can see most of London, even the Big Ben tower. We liked the ride on it. We could see the pink sunset and the muddy brown river Thames when we went high.
You can't imagine how great the musical Oliver was.
The next day we went to the Tower of London. There were many places to visit in the tower. We saw the place where people had their heads chopped off long ago and where the two princes Edward V and Ricard IV were held. Then, we saw the English crown Jewels. They were amazing and sparkly. But Rishi's favorite part was seeing the tower ravens. The ravens gaurd the tower from evil spirits. Rishi thought the ravens were very cute!! He took some pictures of them.
One evening we went to see Oliver the play. In the first part kids were living in an orphanage singing for food. Oliver got kicked out of the orphanage because he asked for more food. Oliver met some kids who taught him how to steal. He gets caught stealing by a rich man who turns out to be his grandad. Oliver went to live with him. Nikhil thought the play was exciting. He liked the actors and how the sets moved. They looked good. You can't imagine how great the musical Oliver was.
We went to the Britain in War Museum. We got to watch a clip about World War II. We went to a place where it showed a torpedo, army suits, and toys that people had then. Then we went through the Blitz. It seemed like bombs were dropping on the city. We sped through it. It's like you were there. If we were kids in World War II, we would be really scared!
We also went to the British Museum. First, we saw the Egyptian section. We saw statues of gods, sphinxes, and the Rosetta stone. All the stuff there was ancient and cool. Then, we went to the Greek section. It had stone statues, carvings, and pillars. Rishi's favorite carving was a man fighting a centaur. Finally, we went to the Asian section. It had glass containers with artifacts. We saw statues of gods and scaly monsters. We only saw a little bit of the British museum, but it was brilliant!
As we were leaving London to go to Paris we stopped at the King's Cross train station. We found the sign that says platform 9 3/4. It had half of a luggage cart sticking out of the wall. We pretended that we were running through the wall to catch the Hogwarts Express, just like Harry Potter. Mom took pictures of us. It was very entertaining.
