This morning we left early for a city tour of Budapest - first to visit inside the Hungarian Parliament building, then on to St Stephans Cathederal - where they have a box that has inside it the actual fist of St Stephan. After this we all went off to Gundels Restaurant for their famous chocolate pancakes. This ended up being a crepe filled with chocolate walnut creme, then covered with thick chocolate sauce. Very rich, and very yummy.

We then went back to the hotel where we had a free time for the rest of the afternoon. The tour director Roman suggested a walk down to Vaci street - the main shopping street and pedestrian mall of Budapest.

Strolling around Budapest

To walk there and then all the way down and back he said it would take about 3 hours - he was right. We wandered down by the river to the Market Place where we walked around looking at all the wares for sale. I purchased a lovely embroidered table cloth. We then walked back down the main pedestrian shopping street to the hotel - which all up took about three and a half hours. I was totally dead by then and just wanted to get off my feet.

That night we had a meal at the hotel that was provided by the tour.
