Got up at 4am to be at the Detroit airport by 8am. Charlie drove Darryl and I to the airport. We were meeting with 10 students from the group.
We flew from Detroit to DC. We landed shortly after noon. We were scheduled for a tour of DC with the National Transportation Group. Clyde was our driver. We went to Arlington Cemetery and visited the ternal flame and saw the chaning of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Clyde took us past the Pentagon and then we ate lunch in the Pentagon Mall. After lunch we went to the Washington Mall area that has all the monuments, we did a quick tour(5 hours) of most of the sites including Jefferson Memorial, the tidal basin, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, WW II Memorial, Capital Hill, and the White House.

Darryl's sister joined us for the DC tour. She and her husband had just moved there a month ago and she had not done the "tourist" things. Now she knows what tour to give to friends and family who visit.
When we were near the White House, we could see a sniper on the roof. This meant that the president was home that day.
We then headed back to the airport where we each exchanged our money for Euros for the first time! The flight to Munich was leaving at 8pm.
