DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 DAY 2 Happy birthday mom! Today is the only day the shops will be open, so what are we gonna do today..... shopping!!! Ofcourse if we cross some major sightseeing we will visit it, but the main goal is shopping.
We start at the beginning of the Ramblas (at the harbour) and walk towards Placa de Catalunya. First we would lik to get a taste of the architecture from Palau Gëll. But.. we can not find it. It appears not to be in sight because it is being restaurated.

We also visit La Boqueria (street on the left from the Ramblas) and it is FANTASTIC!!! This is the place where the spanish go for daily shopping like vegetables, fruit, fish, meat, candy, oil, olives and lots and lots more. It is wonderful to see how they do business and hear the spanish language. There are a lot of people here.
Along the Ramblas there are a few stores, but most of all you see restaurants. At Placa de Catalunya you have more clothing stores with brands like Sefra, El Corte Ingles, Intimissimo and many more.

We cross Placa de Catalunya to the right and arrive at the Passeig de Gracia. On this street you will find Casa Batló. This is also famous from Gaudi! Unfortunately also there is a line here to visit the building, so we decide to skip it and have a look at the outside. Maybe next time we will have a look at the inside! Next to this building there are 2 more famous architectural buildings: Casa Amatller en Casa LLeó Morera.
When you walk a little bit further you are at La pedrera also named Casa Mila. I think this is one of the most impressive buildings we have seen so far. Also designed by Gaudi (who else). When you look at the roof of the building it is just as if it it guarded by the statues on the roof. Also a line here, so maybe next time! And we just walk on. We walked such a long way so it is just a little more to the Sagrada Familia. And... guess who designed it? Yep Gaudi again! The neogothic temple would be his lives work. Unfortunately he could not see the endresult. But... nobody can, because they still have to work on it for about 24 more years untill it's finished. But again.. that is what they said 24 years ago also. When walking along Avinguda Diagonal you pass the Arc de Triomf (no not the Paris one, but it looks like it). It is build in 18888 and is a symblic port for the world expo.

In the evening we eat along the Ramblas. Eric had pasta, Marcel and Colinda meat and I had tapas. The food was very good. At that restaurant we got very large glasses of Sangria, delicious. What a shame we had to drink it! hahahaha Marcel en Danielle have to eat a spanish icecream and Colinda and Eric had to go to Starbucks for a good cup of coffee. When we sit at the Starbucks we see people running by and when we have a closer look we see that it is raining! Hmmm Starbucks is almost closed hopefully it will be better, because we dit not bring an umbrella. When going back to the hotel we have to run for the rain!
How can we serve you better?
