Seattle Tacoma SEA Airport Overview

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport SEA, or simply 'Sea-Tac' is gateway to Alaska and East Asia, and point of entry for thousands of passengers on their way to/from cruise ships at Seattle's port. FlightStats selected Sea-Tac for excellence in departure performance among major international airports (its record in 2010 for on-time departures: 85 percent).

The Airport is located between the cities of Seattle and Tacoma, in Washington State's breathtaking Puget Sound region, borders on the intersections of State Roads 518, 99 and 509, and is only 1.5 miles from Interstate Hwy 5.

With three long runways and an estimated 31.5 million passengers a year, Seattle-Tacoma International is a hub for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and is served by many airlines offering direct and connecting flights to destinations throughout North America, Europe and East Asia.  Emirates Airline will start service to/from Dubai on March 1, 2012

The passenger terminal complex at SeaTac Airport  consists of a main terminal, divided by a central terminal area with four concourses A through D,  and the North and South Satellites, and can be accessed from one central parking and ticketing area. All concourses are connected at post-security. (For detailed terminal information click on 'Terminal Maps'.)

Parking options at Sea-Tac Airport include a cell phone lot, a parking a garage with daily, short- & long-term parking, connected to the main terminal via skybridges on the 4th floor, as well as off-Airport parking lots. (For detailed parking information, click on 'Airport Parking'.)

Rental car agency desks are presently located in the baggage claim area of the main terminal. Five of them have car pickup/dropoff on the first floor of the garage across from the terminal. Off-Airport rental cars provide their own courtesy vans to the Airport.  However, a new Rental Car Center is to open mid-2012 at South 160th Street & International Blvd. south intersection, freeing up much-needed parking spaces..

To get from SeaTac Airport to your destination you can rent a car, take a taxi or limo, a shared ride van or scheduled Airporter service.  Staffed Ground Transportation Information Booths are located on the third floor of the Parking Garage and in Baggage Claim, opposite Carousel 12.  Transportation options can be found at:

Seattle Tacoma SEA Comments

  •

A frequent traveler shares details about Seattle Airport's passenger terminal layout, while others points out how to connect by STS train between terminals and gates. Two motorists remark on the cell phone waiting lot for passenger pickup and directions; and some point out the Alaska Lodge at Concourse C, the service provided by uniformed volunteers and Pathfinders roaming the terminals, the call phone charger locations, baggage storage and free Wi-Fi internet access. We learn where the Ground Transportation Information booth is located, and that work on the Rental Car Center, started the previous year, is scheduled to open 2012. Repeated praise comes from passengers using the light rail to downtown Seattle. A tip for Asian travelers, and US military personnel coming from Asia, is given by some Asian travelers.

Work on the Rental Car Center has started a year ago and is scheduled to open in 2012. The location is at the northeastern part of Seattle Airport, at the South 160th Steet & International Blvd. South intersection. On completion, it will free up 3,200 parking spaces in the present parking garage.
