Boston Logan BOS Airport Overview

Boston Logan International Airport BOS is the busiest airport in New England and was named 'Easiest Airport to Get To' by Aviation.com, a leading business travel website. The Airport, which serves as gateway to New England, is only 15 minutes from the intersection of Route 128 and Interstate Hwy 90, and 5 minutes from downtown Boston.

Boston Logan Airport is located partly in East Boston and partly in the town of Winthrop, on Boston Harbor, Massachusetts, and is directly accessible by Interstate Hwy 90 (the Mass.Tpk - use the tunnel exit), which connects southwest to Interstate Hwy 93 North or State Hwy 1 south.  Information on airlines, traffic & parking is available at 1-800-235-6426 / TTY 1-800-262-3335.

With six runways and an estimated 27.3 million passengers a year Boston Logan International Airport is served by a host of domestic and international airlines offering nonstop service to hundreds of destinations around the U.S. and abroad, and connections around the world.

NOTE:
A traveler shared this new information:  "If using a GPS, the signal may be lost due to the tunnel and concrete structuring. Pay close attention to signage. ....When leaving the Airport, there is a toll booth which charges $3.50 for cars and goes up depending on the vehicle. Logan offers the "e-z pass" option if you come from a state that has the toll responder option (it is referred to as "fast lane" in Mass). "

The on-Airport Hotels:  (a) the Hilton Hotel is located on Hotel Drive, and served by a shuttle to Terminals A & E.  (b) the Hyatt Harborside.

The passenger terminal complex at Boston Logan International includes four operational terminals - TA, TB, TC, & TE, arranged in a semi-circle around the Central Parking Garage. Its northern-most terminal is International Terminal E; connected to it is TC, while TB is separate and connects to TC by walkway. TA is opposite TE, across from the parking facility. Moving walkways connect all four terminals to the Central Garage.  (For detailed terminal information, click on 'Terminal Map'.)

Parking options at Boston Logan Airport include the Cell Phone Lot, Central Parking Garage, Terminal B Garage, Terminal E Parking Losts 1 & 2 and the Economy Parking Garage.  (For more parking details, click on "Airport Parking".)

Rental Cars:  While the arrivals areas of the terminals have rental car counters, the four major rental car agencies are located in the Porter Street/ Tomahawk Drive area, and offer frequent shuttle service thereto. A new consolidated rental car facility 'ConRAC' is to open in 2013.

To get from Logan Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or limo, a shuttle bus, a bus or a train.  Note that you need to go outside of the terminal to meet the JetBlue bus (or else it passes by).
Public transportation is available from both the MBTA's Blue Line Subway service and the Silver Line Bus Rapid Transit service to downtown Boston's South Station (in the Financial District) - Boston's  major tansportation hub for bus, rail, & subway.
1. The Blue Subway Line at Airport Station (reached by free shuttle bus from the Terminals) connects to the Orange & Green Lines at State Street Station in Boston.
2. The Silver Line SL1 Bus - Logan Airport / Waterfront/ South Station - departs from outside of each of the passenger terminals.
3. MBTA Commuter Boat tranportation to either the Quincy commuter boat terminal at Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, or the Pemberton Point in Hull, is available from the Airport's Logan dock, reached by free Route 66 shuttle bus from all terminals. For more ferry information call 617-222-6999.
4. The Massport's Logan Express bus serves the areas of Braintree, Framingham, Peabody and Anderson Regional Transportation Center in Woburn.
4. For additional ground transportation information call 617-561-1673.

Future Airport Developments:   In April 2011 the Massport Board approved the construction of ConRAC, the Consolidated Rental Car facility at Boston Logan, which is scheduled to be completed by 2013.

Boston Logan BOS Comments

  • connecting flights

if I come in on Cape air Flight (small plane) to terminal C and connect to Jet Blue flight in terminal C will 1/2 hr connect time be enough? if flight leaves at 11:25, what time do they shut the door?

  • Connecting Flights within Terminal E

I arrive on a Porter flight from Canada into Terminal E and will be connecting to an Icelandair flight also at Terminal E. How much of a connection time should I allow? Also, since my connecting flight is with a different airline, would I need to pick up my luggage and re-clear customs?

  • important to watch signage

IIf using a GPS, the signal may be lost due to the tunnel and concrete structuring. Pay close attention to signage. Routing to and from Logan Airport can come up on you quickly. Logan Airport's website has excellent directions via a video,. But with traffic can give you a some stressful driving. Also leaving Logan Airport, there is a toll booth which charges $3.50 for cars and goes up depending on the vehicle. Logan offers the "e-z pass" option if you come from a state that has the toll responder option (it is referred to as "fast lane" in Mass).

  • Smoking at JetBlue Terminal

When taking a bus from JetBlue terminal - be prepared. You have to wait outside or the bus goes by you; but all the TSA agents smoke at the bench even though the smoking area is just 15 feet behind that area. Two of them smoked right under the "no smoking" sign.

  •

i am arriving at Logan terminal C and i need to go to terminal E for an international connection with air France is it easier walking or taking the suttle, i got 1 hr and 20 minutes ?

  • Transfer to International Flight

I plan to arrive on a domestic flight from BWI via Airtran and then transfer to an International flight on JetBlue to STT. The time of this layover is 1h25mn. Do you think this is enough time? Also, how long will it take to walk between the arrival gate and my departure gate? Will I need to go through security again (not checking any bags)? I assume I will pass through passport control correct? I also plan to check in online beforehand.

  • Arriving at different Terminals

We have people coming from different parts of the country/different airlines. Some arriving in Terminal A, One B, and One C. Are walkways only available in secure area? Would it just be best to all meet in Terminal A where last person arrives? What is best way to get around so we can all meet up.

  • Shoe missing after security check

I arrived home to find a leaflet in my luggage informing me that my suitcase had been randomly selected for a security check. No problem with that, but one of a pair of new shoes (bought just two days previously!!!) was missing when I unpacked. How is that fair, and how can I contact someone at the airport to discover where my missing shoe might be. If you're reading this and can help,my email is anita.blackett@btinternet.com

  • Lost Luggage

I flew into Boston from Denver on route to London, using two different airlines. My luggage was confirmed by the second airline as having arrived in Boston but when I got to London, the airline stated it hadn't put my luggage on the plane but it would come on the next flight. The airline are now saying it never got to them. Incidently my partners luggage arrived safe in London!! Is there a place at Boston where unclaimed luggage is stored? If so, could my luggage be there??

  • Xferring C to B

Transferring from Jet Blue (C) to US Air (B) what shuttle do I take? Is that the best way to go? Can I get there w/o going through security again?
